Phoenix wins the 2018 German Urban Development Prize

The Walas team congratulates the City of Dortmund for receiving the 2018 German Urban Development Prize Award for the Phoenix urban development project. The award is given every two years by the Deutsche Akademie für Städtebau und Landesplanung (DASL) with the support of the Wüstenrot Foundation.

The Phoenix project is a massive redevelopment plan that includes, besides Phoenix West, the retrofitting of historic buildings and economic stabilization of the historic centre of Hörde and the creation of a new modern district with mix of functions around the artificial Phoenix Lake.

The official brochure about the “Phoenix project – a new urban landscape in Dortmund” is available at https://www.dortmund.de/media/p/stadtplanungs_und_bauordnungsamt/stadtplanung_bauordnung_downloads/stadtplanung_dl/PHOENIX_Dokumentation.pdf

Additional information about the Prize can be found on the page of the City of Dortmund at https://www.dortmund.de/de/leben_in_dortmund/nachrichtenportal/alle_nachrichten/nachricht.jsp?nid=549508
